Mitzi Beach (ASID, CAPS) is an award-winning Interior Designer, Author and Baby Boomer Marketing & Lifestyle Specialist. Mitzi, armed with 30+ years’ experience and a masters degree in interior design—along with key industry certifications—is ready to do battle with the elephant in the room: the “Silver Tsunami” ready to hit the United States of America.
The largest & wealthiest demographic in this country is aging. An estimated 12,500 Boomers turn 50 every day, causing unquestionable changes to Social Security, Medicare and, of course, housing. Mitzi firmly believes the Boomers can and must be the generation that changes the way we age in this country and her unique combination of education, expertise and experience—even the Aging in Place principles evidenced throughout her own “Living Lab” home, called Cypress—make her the ideal candidate to lead that charge.
Mitzi’s book “Boomer Smarts Boomer Power“ is available on Amazon.com and her speaking experience includes the Antique & Design Center at High Point Furniture Market, national and regional presentations for the National Kitchen & Bath Association and more.
What’s you’re favorite part about being an interior designer?
Working with clients who are ready to go to a new level of living the good life in their homes in function, comfort and beauty.
You were recently featured in one of our eblasts by mistake. We apologize for the mistake! We’ve always read that most successful people learn from their mistakes and move on, what have you learned as you’ve grown as a designer?
Oh for sure, I’ve made so many mistakes. I’ve learned it is not my mistake or project issue but how I take care of my mistakes that really matter…Just like GO Home is doing with me. 🙂
Where’d you get the idea for your program Boomer Smarts, Boomer Power?
Boomers need to be aware of all the changes heading like a fright train to their lifestyles as they know it. Learning and doing Boomer Smart will propel them to live in their ultimate Boomer Power.
You’re a Highpoint Market Stylespotter this year. What are you looking forward to at this year’s show?
For sure I’m excited! I”ll be looking for boomer styles and pieces to enhance my fellow boomer homes like multifunctional furniture.
What item would people be surprised to find in your home?
Designed and allocated space for an elevator if ever needed.
What’s your favorite thing to go home to?
Our entire home, Cypress, was designed to be our sanctuary and it truly is. After traveling, I literally walk through my home with such joy and gratefulness as it truly enriches and restores my life…as good design should.
