Lifestyle brand French Bull revived one of our favorite vintage home accessories, the melamine plate. Durable and practical the surface proved a perfect fit with their colorful, retro-inspired patterns. From iKat and Chevron to fun, pop-art inspired selections like Dahlia (pictured below), their complete line of plates, cups, serving ware and more adds the perfect pop of color to homes. They’re also a great housewarming or hostess gift as well.

The designs are all due to the amazing talent of designer Jackie Shapiro. Jackie Shapiro launched her design career after graduating from Parson’s School of Design. Her first job landed her in Italy, working for Milan’s innovative fashion house Fiorucci, where she began to develop her bold and graphic, pop culture style. Returning to New York, she began freelancing for Tommy Hillfiger, and later went on to design for Itokin, one of Japan’s largest fashion manufacturers. Jackie began her own children’s fashion collection, “Izzy”, known for it’s stylized mix of pattern and color, and featured in top stores such as Henri Bendel’s, Saks and Fred Segal.
Mattel Inc. has commissioned Jackie’s talents since 1997 for many of their Barbie products. She also works closely with Cartoon Network’s consumer products division on the Power Puff Girls and Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi brands.
This month look for French Bull’s colorful appliance line in Target store’s nation-wide.
